The Proboscis Monkey is an endangered primate on the island of Borneo. They are very good swimmers and are famous for their long noses. They usually sleep in big mangrove trees and often are found in large groups. They are endangered because of habitat loss from palm oil plantations and now it is estimated that only 7,000 to 8,000 Proboscis Monkeys remain. They primarily eat leaves, seeds, and unripe fruit and their main predators are crocidiles, leopards, and eagles.
